Learning Outcomes of the Course:
After the course, you will understand the importance of music in early childhood as a support for a child 's holistic development and growth.
You know the basics of early childhood music education and are able to apply what you have learned in a mini-project for children.
You know the key principles involved in learning music and musical development.
You are familiar with teaching music and the work of a music educator, and you are familiar with the key teaching methods of individual and group guidance.
You have formed an overview of the Finnish music education system and an understanding of the main features of the history of Finnish music education.

Teaching methods

You will participate in lessons, which includes lectures, demonstrations and workshops.
You will work independently with other students in a small group, organizing an interactive children’s concert in a kindergarten. You will also have other group works.
You will learn about the work of a music educator by observing his work in different classes.
You will participate some excursions.
The materials and tasks of the course are in an e-learning environment, where you also return all the tasks you have done.

Practical training and working life connections

You can follow the lessons in a place of your choice.

The project will be implemented in a kindergarten or at school of Jyväskylä.

Alternative completion methods

Osaamisen tunnistaminen ja tunnustaminen: Hyväksilukeminen (korvaaminen ja sisällyttäminen).
