Objective

Purpose of the course
You learn the practices of business life from the point of view of maintenance, development and operation of information networks. You learn to search for information in problem situations from different systems, standards and manuals. You learn to develop the company's processes in a project-based manner.

Competence goal of the course
You know how to work as part of a company whose business includes the maintenance and monitoring of information networks. You know how to develop the monitoring of the information network through the development of different processes in a project-based manner. You know fault, change, and configuration management of the information network, as well as the necessary systems for maintaining documentation. You know the principles and technologies of network monitoring.

Content

The development, maintenance and operation of information networks is guided by several different service management/operational control methodologies. The implementation of the study course describes its current essential teaching methods. This list described in the course description is indicative:
- Network Operations Center
- Service management methods, e.g. ITIL
- Service level agreements (SLA and its parameters such as MTBF, MTTR)
- Information network maintenance (fault management)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Sufficient 1: The student somehow knows how to follow the given processes and act almost in accordance with their service level promises. The student must be able to manage complex and challenging failure and/or change situations. The student is able to search for information from different systems in order to solve the problem in case of failure.

Satisfactory 2: The student can satisfactorily follow the given processes and act roughly in accordance with their service level promises. The student is able to satisfactorily manage complex and challenging failure and/or change situations. The student is satisfactorily able to search for information in failure situations from different systems in order to solve the problem.

Good 3: The student knows how to follow the given processes and act in accordance with their service level promises. The student is able to manage complex and challenging failure and/or change situations. The student knows how to search for information in error situations from different systems in order to solve the problem.
