Objective

You will gain a basic knowledge of the aspects of electric power technology and become more deeply acquainted with the calculation of connected 3-phase circuits. Studying in this course requires basic knowledge of electrical engineering and you need these studies e.g. in other courses in this module.

You know the basic calculation of connected 3-phase circuits and are well acquainted with different concepts of power. You understand the effect of reactive power and harmonics in an electric power system. You know how the basic quantities of an electric power system are measured. You also know the measurements related to the quality of electricity. You can use mathematical methods and tools to describe phenomena in the field and solve problems.

In accordance with the guidelines of Institute of Information Technology, this course has an 80% attendance requirement. Attendance is tracked using the Moodle attendance tool. Absences will be agreed with the teacher for justified reasons (e.g. in case of illness or otherwise demonstrated competence).

All course assignments (including exam, seminar and laboratory work) must be completed in order to receive a pass.
