Objective

Student understands the principles of the wood procurement in forest indusrty value chains and the main effects of hardwood and softwood species in bioproduct processes. Student learns the basics of fiberline and recovery processes and understands the their principal effects to pulp quality and energy production.

Content

Biobased raw materials in Finland and abroad, the basic properties of genetically modified hardwoods.
Chemistry of Pulp
Fiberline processes and their effects to pulp quality. Recovery processes, energy production and economics of modern bioproduct mill.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Satisfactory (1-2) as a rule, the student has attained the objectives of the course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Good (3-4) the student has attained the objectives of the course at a satisfactory level.
