Objective
The students
• recognizes the individual needs of clients as the starting point for preventive and rehabilitative work
• are able to plan, implement and assess the methods for his or her own area of specialty (child welfare, family work, service guidance) when working with clients, families and surrounding network
• can work in multi-professional cooperation with different organizations and people.
• becomes more skilled in the application and assessment of their own practical theory.
Content
• Supervised practical training in client work tasks in the student’s chosen area of specialty, for example at social offices, substance abuse work and mental health, probation, child welfare, work with families, positions with KELA and labor administration.
• Providing guidance and support for clients and their support network from the perspective of rehabilitative work.
Qualifications
The students have a command of professional and ethical principles of social services. They are familiar with client work and counselling in social services, as well as the legislation related to these. The students have become familiar with client work and is adept in the different stages of the client process. The students can apply the methods from their area of specialty (e.g. child welfare, family work, and social counselling) and are familiar with the legislation in the field.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
Pass (S) The students are able to plan, implement, as well as assess the methods of social services in her chosen field of client work. They are able to perform in a multi-professional team according to the principles of working life. The students are able to argue the principles of her own work in practice. They understand the meaning of goal-directed client work.
The students are able to assess her strengths as well as future learning goals according to the outcomes for the practical training. The students´ verbal and written assessments, as well as a self-assessment have all been approved according to learning outcomes of the course.
