Objective

Purpose of the course
In this course, you will understand the importance of promoting mental health in different life situations. You will gain skills for early identification of mental health disorders and substance abuse disorders, as well as for planning the patient's overall treatment. In addition, you will familiarize yourself with the most common mental health disorders, substance abuse disorders and the basics of crisis care work. The course strengthens your professional ethics and your self-reflection skills.

Guidance and interaction skills and self-care support: able to plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based guidance that supports client/patient adherence to treatment and self-care
Knowledge of health promotion: supports the recognition and empowerment of clients/patients' own resources
Knowledge of health promotion: identify and assess the health risk factors of clients/patients and know how to allocate early support to those who need it

Personal and professional values and attitudes in mental health, substance abuse and crisis treatment work.
Culturally sensitive promotion of the mental health of people of different ages in mental health, substance abuse and crisis treatment work.
Etiology, risk factors, protective factors, early identification, evidence-based treatment and rehabilitation of mental health disorders and substance use disorders.
Encounter skills
Theoretical foundations of the main methods of mental health and substance abuse treatment
Meeting in digital environments and digital helping methods
Supporting the survival of a patient in acute crisis.
Multiprofessionalism and network-oriented working.
Central mental health and substance abuse treatment service system, recommendations and legislation.
Self-reflection, self-reliance, work management.
Special issues of mental health and substance abuse treatment (e.g. ethical issues, stigma, attitudes, marginalization, generational chain and safety).
