Teaching methods
In this course, you study the basics of women's and maternity care and also gynecology. The course is implemented as a multi-modal implementation, which includes an orientation for the course and three contact days.You participate as an active learner in contact teaching. Contact teaching uses different teaching methods and they require you to prepare for lectures as described in the Moodle learning environment. During the study period, you complete the two online tests of contraception and breastfeeding guidance. You demonstrate your learning of gynecology with a multiple-choice exam and your learning of women's and maternity care with a group exam.

After this course you know the basics in gynegological illnesses, treatments and nursing methods in women´s health. You have basic knowledge in maternity care during physiological pregnancy, labour and postpartum time.
You understand the meaning of empowering approach in planning, implementing and evaluating the care of women and their families. You understand the global perspective and ethical principles in women´s health and maternity care.
Content
You learn basic knowledge in women´s health and maternity care. In this Study Course, you will familiarize yourself with the following themes
The basics of Sexual and Reproductive Health Promotion at Different Life Stages in Women and the Family
Empowering approach in co-operation with women and their families
The basics of gynecological illnesses and the basics of their monitoring and nursing interventions
Physiological pregnancy, labour and postpartum time
The main evidence-based nursing interventions and examinations in women´s health and maternity nursing
Multiprofessional co-operation in nursing processes in women´s health and maternity care
