Bachelor's Degree Programme in Purchasing and Logistics Engineering
Key learning outcomes
Upon completing this degree, you will acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to effectively plan, develop, and manage both purchasing and logistics operations in an international business environment. You will be prepared for roles in managerial or specialist capacities within the international sphere of purchasing and logistics. Additionally, you will possess a comprehensive understanding of business operations, enabling you to make well-informed decisions that consider technical, economic, and sustainability factors.
Education content and professional growth and know-how
Within your degree programme, studies are divided into distinct modules and courses. Your curriculum encompasses general studies, natural sciences, technology studies, and specialised professional studies. Your specialisation lies in purchasing and logistics engineering, with the option to choose complementary minors that enhance your expertise in specific areas, such as circular economy, logistics management, or business management. You also have the opportunity to participate in exchange programmes with our partner universities.
Your courses, specifically designed for international groups, will be delivered through a variety of methods including practical exercises (e.g., international case studies), projects, lab work, software applications, simulation games, lectures, online studies and industry visits (international companies). Throughout your studies, your expertise will evolve and expand, equipping you to collaborate effectively and address challenges in the dynamic realm of global purchasing and logistics.
Flexible studies
You can choose your alternative or elective studies from EduFutura partner institutions (University of Jyväskylä and Gradia) and international studies from European EUDRES higher education institutions. You can also choose from Finnish and foreign partner universities, such as other universities of applied sciences and universities. You can apply for accreditation of higher education studies that you have completed elsewhere.
Working life oriented learning
Working life-oriented learning is integrated into bachelor's degree courses across the curriculum. This encompasses practical training to enhance professional skills, the thesis, and various projects related to the working world. At Jamk University of Applied Sciences, this approach is embodied by the Jamk Future Factory®, which fosters collaboration among industry professionals, students, Jamk experts, and working life-oriented LAB environments. In addition to multidisciplinary projects, this model enables students to develop essential skills, define career paths, and build networks for their future careers.
Studification, a component of real-world-oriented learning, involves combining work, project activities, Future Factory initiatives, etc., with your studies. This entails drafting a studification plan and documenting it as agreed with your instructor.
Career opportunities and employment
Upon graduating, you'll be well-prepared for roles as a purchasing or logistics specialist or manager in sectors spanning industry, trade, services, government, or training within the global market. As a Bachelor of Purchasing and Logistics Engineering, you'll possess a sustainable and responsible approach to managing logistics processes encompassing sales, production, purchasing, warehousing, and transportation.
