During the course there will be visitors from the working life, some of whom are Jamk alumni. As possible, one or more company visits are organized during the course.

Student workload

5 credits is 135 hours of studying.
The workload is distributed as follows:
Contact lessons at Rajakatu Main Campus 35 hours
Independent study and and familiarization with course materials 45 hours
Group work 27 hours
Individual reporting 27 hours
Self-evaluation 1 hour

Content scheduling

There are two (2) main topics in the course:
Hospitality services in Finland and globally
Multi-cultural perspectives and working in multi-cultural team

Course will be passed without a grade (H):
The student recognizes the field of tourism and hospitality industry and the actors that influence it. The student understands the effects of cultural diversity in working environments. The student is able to collect and select information from various sources.

Course is assessed as Fail (0) if the student does not reach the minimum goals set for passing the course.

Opiskelija tunnistaa marata-alan toimintakentän ja siinä vaikuttavat toimijat. Hän ymmärtää kulttuurisen monimuotoisuuden vaikutukset työympäristöissä. Opiskelija osaa kerätä ja valita tietoa erilaisista tietovarannoista.


Hylätty (0): Opintojakso on hylätty, mikäli opiskelija ei saavuta opintojakson läpäisylle asetettuja minimitavoitteita.
